FAQ 11: IT advances very rapidly, and IT skills get obsolete fast. Is there any option of part-time study or CET to help me to stay relevant and competitive?

Yes, IT skills do get obsolete fast. One has to keep on learning (life-long learning) to stay relevant and competitive. If a DCPE graduate who has already joined the workforce would like to pick up specialization training in IT-related areas, there are many Continuing Education & Training (CET) programmes to choose from. These programmes are known as “Specialist Diploma” courses, typically take only one year to complete the programme. Many of these programmes are also helping to prepare the participants for industry certifications from Cisco, AWS and Microsoft.

If a DCPE graduate wishes to pursue a degree programme but a full-time degree programme is financially non-feasible, he/she may consider the part-time degree programmes at local universities, which normally take 5 years to complete.
